It's been a whole year since I moved from Spain!  So what's been happening?

The first month back in UK was spent leading Buddhafield's silent "Total Immersion" retreat.   The next three saw us in London seeking somewhere to live.  Luckily a good friend, Devapriya, gave us a temporary home in what he calls his 'Hermitage'.  He's in north Archway, a neighbourhood I've known from the earliest days - the Buddhist movement I'm part of began in the next street. I lived around there for five or so years from about 1970.  It's between Highgate and Parliament Hill Fields and there is lots of open space - a great area of London which gave our spirits a lift at a difficult and vulnerable time.

Yashobodhi and I had had too many transitions.  The wrench of removing ourselves from our beautiful yurt, set up with love and hard graft in the Spanish wilderness, had been very straining and is reason enough for a year's silence.  Read my posts for the previous two years; look at the photos!  We were digging in deep for our new life in Spain.  It was to be a life of teaching and profound practice, but when it all went wrong we had a lot to dig ourselves out of.

Anyway, the gods of Britain have been on our side.  We landed nicely on our feet with the surprise offer of an affordable flat in West Hampstead, just the other side of Parliament Hill - in another pleasant and familiar area for me (dating from my teenage years in the sixties!) - and with a sunny garden as well.  Sumatra Road has been our home since autumn 2010, and it's working well.

Dating from my long retreat in SW Wales it's been ten years living in nature and now I'm taking that life back into the city - where after all, most of us live.  With no car, and no distance to the shops, my carbon footprint has gone right down.  And nature is everywhere, and everything, anyway.  I just hope that any sensibilities I have gained in this last decade won't be blunted by the endless input and stimulation of dear old, bad old London.
